You’ll notice on the home page of this site a slideshow featuring images of some of the home pages for sites I’ve developed. That slide show can come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. It can have thumbnails for navigation. It can be a banner rotation at the top of your web site. And best of all, it’s very easy for you to add to and manage, once I’ve set up the administrative area properly. The plug-in I’m using for this site’s slider is called Meta Slider. It’s very good, but there are many other plug-ins to choose from, based on your needs.
For the past three months I’ve been studying WordPress as a web development tool and a content management system. I’ve developed four sites in that period, and I’m blown away with its flexibility in allowing me to create sites that match the look and feel my clients want while retaining all the amazing functionality available through WordPress and its plug-ins: great search engine optimization tools, Google Analytics integration, integrated stores, rotating ads and images, easy-to-manage slideshows, great calendars, incredible social media tie-ins, and much, much more.
One site I’m still in the middle of developing is at www.movingtheself.org/wp. It’s a simple but joyful site, with rotating images in the sidebars, beautiful accordion-style FAQ content, SEO optimizing tools, and many other small tools that make for greater functionality.
I’m learning something new I can do every day. Contact me if you’d like to learn more about what WordPress sites can do.
